Here at Stardust Stables
Mindful Horsemanship with Sarah
Understanding the horse beneath the behaviour.
Mindful Horsemanship is an invitation to look beyond training and riding and begin learning about the horse standing in front of you.
Their behaviour.
Their communication.
Their nervous system.
Their experiences.
Their boundaries.
Their individual personality.
And, somewhere along the way, perhaps to learn a little more about yourself too.
Listen • Notice • Understand • Connect

What are we bringing to the conversation?.....

Welcome to Stardust Stables
Stardust Stables sits within InnerWonderland as a place to explore the relationship between horses and humans.
Here, real horsemanship meets storytelling, psychology, nervous-system awareness, emotional awareness and wellbeing.
Some lessons begin with the horse.
Some begin with the human.
Very often, we discover they aren't quite as separate as we thought.
You don't need to leave the real world at the gate.
You simply enter with curiosity.
Taking time isn't doing nothing.........

Mindful Horsemanship with Sarah
Don't just learn how to train horses.
Learn horses.
Learn how they communicate.
Learn their individual patterns.
Learn their boundaries.
Learn what tension looks like.
Learn what relaxation looks like.
Learn when to ask.
Learn when to wait.
And remain willing to learn yourself alongside them.
Take the time • Notice • Listen • Learn • Connect

Often there is a Story Beneath the Behaviour.......
More Than Training. More Than Riding.
There is so much more to knowing horses than learning how to ride them or asking them to perform a particular behaviour.
A horse is an individual.
They have preferences, sensitivities, instincts, experiences and ways of communicating that are entirely their own.
Some are naturally confident and curious.
Some need more time.
Some arrive in our lives carrying experiences we know very little about.
And sometimes the behaviour we are trying hardest to change is actually the place where we need to become most curious.
With Sarah, Mindful Horsemanship explores what can happen when we move from:
"How do I make my horse do this?"
towards:
"What is happening here?"

Connection - Before Control......

Meet Sarah
Sarah's approach to horsemanship begins with something beautifully simple:
Learn the horse in front of you.
Through her work with horses and their humans, Sarah encourages curiosity, observation and awareness alongside clear communication, appropriate boundaries and thoughtful leadership.
It isn't about removing boundaries or never asking anything of our horses.
And it isn't about achieving perfect calm.
It is about developing the awareness to recognise what is happening within the relationship and responding to the individual horse rather than relying upon one approach for every horse.
Clear without frightening.
Confident without force.
Consistent without rigidity.
Compassionate without abandoning boundaries.

Get Curious - ask Questions ........
Two Nervous Systems. One Conversation.
Every interaction between horse and human involves more than one nervous system.
We notice our horses.
But Mindful Horsemanship also asks us to notice ourselves.
What happens to your breathing when your horse becomes worried?
Do you tighten?
Rush?
Become frustrated?
Feel frightened?
Become conscious of the people watching you?
Our horses bring themselves into the relationship.
And so do we.
Learning to recognise both sides of that conversation can change the way we understand behaviour, communication, trust and connection.

Progress Is NOT linear & Nor does it look the same for each horse or human ......

Horses have VALUE - Beyond Riding..........
A Different Kind of Progress
Progress doesn't always mean riding further, jumping higher or finally completing an exercise.
Sometimes progress is quieter.
A breath.
A softer body.
A horse choosing to stay.
Allowing touch where touch once felt difficult.
Recovering more quickly after becoming frightened.
A human recognising tension sooner.
Changing the plan.
Or simply deciding:
That's enough for today.
Small moments can create very big changes in a relationship.
